About Dr. Terfa Maurice Akesa

Dr.Terfa Maurice Akesa is a lecturer in the Department of Plant and Ecological Studies with a research interest in the taxonomy of plants using chemical, chromosomal, structure, breeding system, plant geography, and ecology. He graduated from the Benue State University, Makurdi where he obtained his Ph.D. in 2015. A widely travelled scholar and researcher highly cited in the world and a professional teacher registered with the Teachers' Registration Council of Nigeria. He started lecturing at the Benue State University, Makurdi, and Adamawa State University, Mubi before joining the services of the University of Calabar, Calabar in 2018. He has mentored, taught, examined, and supervised students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Dr. Akesa, T. M. has attended many conferences, received many awards, honours, and prizes including the Ogun State NYSC Honours award (1999). He is a member of the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN) and a member of the Botanical Society of Nigeria. He is married to Mrs. Florence Nguseer Akesa and the marriage is blessed with five children. His hobbies include listening to music and gardening.
